Monday evenings, 7:00pm to 8:30pm or Wednesday evenings, 7:00pm to 8:30pm.
Leader: Harriet Power, LCSW, CSAT,CMAT.
This group is for the partners of addicts. It focuses on addiction
education and relational issues specific to the addiction. The purpose
of the group is to recognize and regulate the emotional effects of
trauma and betrayal , and to support healing and self care. During the
early stages of discovery, the partner’s emotional pain could often be
acute and require treatment. Feelings of self doubt, loss and
isolation can contribute to a sense of powerlessness and reactive anger
which can be destructive. This group offers the partner professional
guidance in a safe, supportive environment and the opportunity to
connect with others who understand and are moving on in their own lives,
learning about self care, self awareness and relationship.
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
Independently scheduled on a private or referral basis.
Harriet Power, LCSW, CSAT, CMAT (EAGALA trained, EFMHA associated)
With the added dimension of the human/animal connection, the equine
assisted therapist and the patient work together with the horse, whose
qualities, size and behavior, encourage presence and awareness in the
moment. The therapist facilitates a focused exploration of the human’s
issues, behaviors and inner experiences as she guides the patient to
become curious and aware of inner resources available for more adequate
responses to life’s challenges.
The sessions take place at a farm with a horse and a horse handler
accompanying the therapist. Equine assisted psychotherapy is designed
for adults dealing with impairment in social, emotional and physical
functioning stemming from issues of family dysfunction, addiction,
co-addiction and family of origin issues of trauma and abuse.
Individual, couples, family and group sessions are available.
Scheduled on an as needed basis, with a signed release from a therapist
with whom there is already an existing treatment.
